ABOUT US
What We Do
We are a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit that competes in FIRST Robotics high school-level competitions as Team Ultraviolet #8567. We also have two FIRST LEGO League CHALLENGE teams for middle school-level students.
Our goal is to provide equitable and accessible STEM education to students in Wellesley and surrounding communities.
We also engage in community events to expand STEM education across The Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Our Story
Wellesley Robotics Team Ultraviolet was founded in June 2020 to give students of all types access to fun engineering learning opportunities that were lacking in Wellesley. Our primary team value is equity and access regardless of gender, ethnicity, or ability. The team is student-led with guidance from parents and mentors.
In October 2020, we joined the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition (FRC), an organization and a competition that shares our goals and values.
Though many of our members attend Wellesley High School, we are only partially sponsored by WHS and welcome others from surrounding communities interested in designing and building robots. We have learning opportunities for anyone interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and/or the many aspects of running an organization.
